Most Popular Baseball Cards

February 19th 2008

Since the launch of BaseballCardChase.com, we’ve been monitoring which baseball cards collectors have been most interested in. The results show that collectible baseball cards have a broad selection of collectors in the hobby.

Leading the pack are mostly recent and active baseball superstars. From Derek Jeter, to Barry Bonds to Ken Griffey Jr. Essentially, the same stars you see in the ESPN SportsCenter highlights are the most sought after by collectors.

Looking at the baseball player search results, prices for the current baseball player cards are also more affordable when compared to the next catagory, Hall of Famers.

There were a number of Baseball Hall of Famer Cards that were popular searches. We’re not sure if the searches were for actual buyers, of if people just enjoy window shopping at some of the extreme ends of baseball card collecting.

For example, Mickey Mantle and Jackie Robinson, ranked high on the baseball card search list. Looking at the results for these cards, the prices ranged from recent reprints costing less than $5. However, some of the auctions were for originals going for hundreds or more.

The Wraps are Coming Off the New Baseball Card Player Search Engine

December 11th 2007

We are about to conclude the beta for BaseballCardChase.com. All known bugs that are user facing have been resolved. Searching for old, vintage baseball cards is working just fine. Results are being shown for player cards from the late 1800’s, the early 1900’s through the modern age of baseball.

We have a few items to correct on the adminstrative side for managing the search results for baseball card dealers. But, those issues do not impact the baseball articles or the search for sports cards. Prices and values of baseball cards are also not impacted.

If you have suggestions for additional sports cards dealers or retail sites that you would like added to the baseball card search meta engine, please use the contact us form to send in the suggestions. We will begin publishing of baseball player card blog articles within one week. Thanks for visiting baseballcardchase.com.

Testing for Vintage Cards and Modern Baseball Cards

December 5th 2007

The testing of BaseballCardChase.com continues. We’ve been running multiple searches the past few days and are getting mixed results for older player cards against newer baseball cards.

Searching for baseball players from prior to the 1980’s does give results. We’re also seeing some aggressive pricing for older cards. However, the results are sometimes sparse for position players at some sites.

Best results are coming from MVPs, All-Stars and World Series winners. Yankees, Cubs, Dodgers and Red Sox do better than most.

We’re finding that on Ebay, you can find just about any player from the last 30 years. Results are quick in the BaseballCardChase.com search engine.

Our next round of testing will be to make sure that the database is maintaining proper data on sports card searches.
